Credit Repair Glossary

  • Credit Reporting Agency

Commonly known as credit bureaus, credit reporting agencies are companies that receive, maintain, and provide information about consumers’ credit history. In the United States, there are three major credit bureaus that dominate the industry.  They are: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. There are many smaller agencies, but almost all of them get information from one or more of the three major agencies.  These credit reporting agencies are governed by a number of Federal laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
