Consumer Report
Pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), a “consumer report” is:
…any written, oral, or other communication of any information by a consumer reporting agency bearing on a consumer’s credit worthiness, credit standing, credit capacity, character, general reputation, personal characteristics or mode of living ….(FCRA §609(d)(1))
Examples of “consumer reports” are the credit reports you receive from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. There are dozens of other “consumer reports” that include information about you. Some of these other consumer reports are created by “Specialty Consumer Reporting Agencies”.
